Greensboro agency to fundraise for type 1 diabetes research through cycling event

GREENSBORO, NC— Sales Factory has pledged to participate in the JDRF Ride to Cure, benefiting type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. The agency will serve as the Triad’s first corporate sponsor.

Sales Factory Sales Factory’s participating cyclists will ride in the JDRF Ride to Cure Diabetes on October 3-6, 2019, in Amelia Island, Fla.—one of six JDRF destination rides planned for 2019. This year marks the 25th anniversary of JDRF’s Piedmont Triad chapter, and Sales Factory has pledged to fundraise, train, and ride with JDRF’s Triad cycling team. Sales Factory has a total of 15 participating riders.

“Many Sales Factory employees know someone dealing with type 1 diabetes, so this is a cause close to our hearts,” said Ged King, CEO of Sales Factory and avid cyclist. “We are excited to be the first corporate sponsor of JDRF in the Triad and hope to encourage more businesses in the area to pledge their support and participation in future fundraisers.”

JDRF is dedicated to the fight against type 1 diabetes through funding research, advocating for government support of research and new therapies, ensuring new therapies come to market, and connecting and engaging the T1D community. JDRF is the leading global organization funding T1D research.

“We are thrilled that Sales Factory is our first-ever corporate sponsor here in the Triad for the JDRF Ride to Cure,” said JDRF development manager Danielle Hayes. “Our chapter cycling team is a wonderful mix of new and experienced riders, and Sales Factory’s energy is fueling tremendous excitement among all our team members.”

Sales Factory will be training for the 100-mile ride from now up until the event. To donate to the Sales Factory team, visit the Sales Factory team page.

For over 10 years, Sales Factory has integrated cycling into its company culture with afternoon rides, Bike to Work Week and the Ride to Raleigh.

“Cycling is a huge part of our company culture, and we are excited to channel our passion into such a great cause,” said King. “Companies that train together stay together.”

About Type 1 Diabetes: Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is a chronic, life-threatening autoimmune disease that strikes children and adults at any age. Its onset is sudden and is not related to diet or lifestyle. In T1D, the body's immune system destroys cells in the pancreas that produce insulin, meaning the body produces little to no insulin to regulate blood sugar and get energy from food. T1D requires rigorous 24/7 monitoring of blood glucose levels—even overnight—to avoid potentially lethal highs and lows in blood sugar, as well as other devastating complications like kidney, eye and nerve diseases.

About JDRF: JDRF is the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. Our mission is to improve lives today and tomorrow by accelerating life-changing breakthroughs to cure, prevent, and treat T1D and its complications. To accomplish this, JDRF has invested more than $2.25 billion in research funding since our inception. Founded by a group of parents of children with T1D in 1970, JDRF is an organization built on a grassroots model of people connecting in their local communities, collaborating regionally for efficiency and broader fundraising impact, and uniting on a national stage to pool resources, passion, and energy. We collaborate with academic institutions, policymakers, and corporate and industry partners to develop and deliver a pipeline of innovative therapies to people living with T1D. Our staff and volunteers throughout the United States and our six international affiliates are dedicated to advocacy, community engagement, and our vision of a world without T1D.
